The world championship second round continues at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield, where tonight the first of the quarter-finalists will be decided.
At this stage last year, Ronnie O'Sullivan was facing the unseeded Robert Milkins in a match he would sail through 13-2. By contrast, Ireland's Ken Doherty was taken right to the wire by Englishman Mark King in a final-frame thriller. Welshman Matthew Stevens was also preparing to book his place in the last eight with a resounding win over fans' favourite Jimmy White , while the competition's eventual winner Peter Ebdon knocked out fellow Englishman Joe Perry.
Introduced by Hazel Irvine and former title-holders
Steve Davis and John Parrott.
