Golf: The Open
The climax of the 127th Open championship from Royal Birkdale. Last year, American Justin Leonard found himself five shots off the lead going into the last day, but a superb six-under-par final round saw him claim the trophy.
Leonard's success meant agony for Sweden's Jesper Parnevik, who until the closing holes had looked a certain winner. Hopes of ending a six-year wait for a British triumph appear to lie with the likes of Scot Colin Montgomerie, regarded as the best player not to have won a Major, and England's Lee Westwood.

Shipwreck
When a late-16th-century shipwreck was discovered off the Channel Islands, local divers and marine archaeologists rushed to save her as tides threatened to sweep away crucial evidence. It would take clues as diverse as the grain of hertimber and the letters of an Elizabethan nobleman to establish the ship's identity, and eventually discover what happened on herfinal voyage. Concluding a two-part examination of the life and work of sculptor Henry Moore.

1945-86. After the Second World War, Moore's Shelter Drawings and Fallen Warriors came to provide resonant images for both victorious and defeated nations. His love of natural forms, whether they be rocks, pebbles or chicken bones, and his placing of sculpture in the landscape, led to a reputation that brought him international success. Stone, Wood, Water, which follows, continues the Sculpture Season.
