The Picasso season continues with a film, first shown on ITV in 1960, that marked the Tate Gallery's first major
British retrospective of the artist's work.
Art historian Kenneth Clark , whose monumental series
Civilisation was recently repeated on BBC2, gave a virtuoso performance in presenting a live outside broadcast from the Tate. He surveys the masterpieces of Picasso's work, and represents the artist as clown, chameleon and tragic poet.
