Concerto for Paintbrush and Orchestra
One of the great works in the orchestral repertoire is heard - and seen - as never before. Joining Simon Rattle and the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra on the stage of Birmingham's Symphony Hall is performance artist Norman Perryman. In time with the score, Perryman paints images inspired by Ravel's orchestration of Musorgsky's music on to glass plates. These will appear on a screen behind the orchestra through two overhead projectors. Before the performance, Perryman explains his philosophy and techniques - and reveals the meticulous preparation that has gone into this ambitious project. Producer Jonathan Fulford
Executive producer Rod Natkiel
