She was big, brave and ugly. Many like her took men to their death, but not Belle; she and her boys survived. In the Second World War American bomber crews rarely made it home. The survival rate among these servicemen was only one in five. These deadly odds so appalled film producer David Puttnam that he made Memphis Belle - the account of a young crew's bravery on their final mission. As the cameras shoot today's stars, yesterday's crew - the original 'Glory Boys' - remember the real shooting, when one direct hit could mean never going home again.

Six programmes about the vitality and relevance of myth.
5: Love and the Goddess. 'Love is the burning point in life, and since life is sorrowful, so is love. The stronger the love, the more the pain, but love bears all things. Love is the pain of being truly alive.' Joseph Campbell talks with Bill Moyers about the origin of the idea of romantic love in the 12th century and looks at the great mythic theme of the Goddess as Isis, Gaia,
Mother Earth and even the Madonna. Producer Roger Stott
