Funny, strange, challenging and remarkable video from artists around the world. Tonight: three pieces with the common theme of history. Max Almy 's The Thinker traces man's evolution from monkey to yuppie, and back again, in under six minutes. This Is a History of New York is an intense and idiosyncratic portrait of the city by Jem Cohen , and Peter Callas 's computer graphics in Night's High Noon present a distinctive view of Australia's often troubled past. A series of films, each made by a different European country, profiling six very different architects who are contributing to the look of the new Europe. Germany: Volkwin Marg and Meinhard von Gerkan
The two Hamburg architects had barely qualified when they won their first competition - for Berlin's Tegel Airport. Since then their practice has designed six more airports as well as housing, shopping arcades, offices and, something of a speciality, multi-storey car parks. Their work is characterised by a strong feeling for the architecture of Hamburg. They see their greatest challenge as reconciling their duty to be
'modern' architects - masters of the materials, technologies and demands of their time - to their belief that such architecture should enhance, not distort or damage, the traditional fabric of their city. Narrated by Patrick Malahide. Director Ralph Quinke

The first part of the highly-acclaimed two-part dramatisation of one of America's most baffling and controversial criminal cases. Starring
Jason Robards , Martin Sheen Atlanta , 1979: the city's administrators and police are in a state of turmoil with crime figures rising and accusations of racial prejudice rife. To this climate a new factor is added: a series of murders, all of young black children. The police seem unable to solve these vicious crimes and before long the people decide to take matters into their own hands.
Then comes a startling breakthrough.

United series followed their route to glory and promotion. Tonight, in a single programme, the route is covered again, including new action and drama: the transfers, the boardroom rows and the dressing-room battles. As manager Dave Bassett says, 'I've done everything I can except fix the game.' Producer Paul Pierrot Editor Peter Clarke
