Selected for the Berlin Film Festival in 1979, Truffaut's wry comedy reintroduced the character of Antoine Doinel , first seen as the 13-year-old hero of Les quatre cents coups. Now more than 30, Antoine has published a fairly successful novel, made a mess of his marriage and is still consciously charming, pig-headed and egocentric. Only a torn photograph can save him from another disaster.
