A season of films selected for the big international film festivals begins tonight with the official French entry to Cannes in 1980. One morning, on her way to the school in Lyons where she teaches, Laurence admits to herself that she desperately needs a break.
During the week she spends at home she questions her commitment to teaching and her relationship with her lover, but a chance meeting with the father of one of her pupils gives Laurence a new sort of strength and confidence.
