Arctic Paradise
On the edge of the last frontiers - in the Yukon, on the edge of the Arctic Circle, where winter temperatures can drop to a dramatic 70 degrees below zero - Roger Mendelsohn has chosen to make his home. He lives by fur-trapping in winter and salmon fishing in the short summer.
He came from a Toronto suburb, his wife from the warmth of California and together they have had to learn the skills they need to survive in one of the harshest but most beautiful lands in the world. They live with two small children in an isolated log cabin they built themselves.
Now their peaceful pioneer life-style is under threat. The rising price of gold has brought a new gold rush to Dawson City, just 30 miles away; their wilderness is now being torn up by the big mining companies; their traps disturbed by tractors; small-scale prospectors are staking their claims in the neighbouring creeks. 3: Philip Meninsky
The fall of Singapore in February 1942 was one of the most humiliating defeats in British history. For Philip Menlnsky , a young commando, there began a three-year struggle to stay alive. Forced by the Japanese to work on the notorious Burma Railway, he managed to make a pictorial record of life in the jungle camps. His drawings of surgical instruments and artificial limbs made out of scraps of metal and bits of wood is a remarkable record of man's ingenuity under the most appalling circumstances.

Something to Do with Video
Video has opened many doors. To an Indian family it's a link with a distant language and culture. To the police it's an impartial record of events that could secure a conviction. To the Pirate it means easy money, to the frightened pensioner in the high-rise block it's security.
Already the video-opportunist has appeared on the streets of London. In the summer two men, video-equipped, waited in the darkness of the red-light area behind King's Cross ...
