The Making of Bendigo Boswell
Over the past seven years Children's Music Theatre has become one of the most outstanding and successful attractions on the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Few of the performers become professional actors, so it was just for the sheer fun of it that 100 children gave up their summer holidays last year and worked impossible schedules to put their two shows on the stage. They gave 24 performances in 18 days, as well as rehearsals, broadcasts and publicity stunts.
Bendigo Boswell was commissioned by BBC Television. The cast ranges in age from 9 to 17, and their complete performance, recorded in Edinburgh, can be seen on BBC2 tomorrow. Tonight s film goes back to the first auditions, even before the play was written, and traces the progress from an outline idea to an award-winning production.

The last of five programmes

This film looks at how the mass weekly, Woman's Own, is constantly evolving - but always slowly and subtly, never too far ahead or behind its readers. By contrast Spare Rib, a feminist monthly, wants nothing less than a revolution in women's attitudes. With Iris Burton, editor of Woman's Own, The Spare Rib Collective, Dr Cynthia White and Dr Marjorie Ferguson
