Less than one hour's plane ride from J.R.'s home town, Dallas, there is the most unusual air force in the world. Nearly 100 bombers and fighters from World War II wait in readiness for the scramble that will never come; they form the Ghost Squadron of the Confederate Air Force.
Under their commander, Colonel Jethro E. Culpeper , the 7,000 colonels - there are no other ranks - keep their aerial armada in the skies over Texas: To perpetuate the spirit that kept the free world free '.
Not all the colonels are Americans: HRH Prince Philip and Battle of Britain ace, Sir Douglas Bader , are among the illustrious British names.
Last October the air force put on its annual show of strength at command HQ. As the Heinkels and Messerschmitts, Spitfires and Mustangs. Liberators and Flying Fortresses took to the skies, the colonels reminded the world once again of a time when ' America was great'.

As part of the European Community Youth Orchestra's 1981 tour, tonight's concert comes from the ancient open-air theatre of Herodes Atticus near the Acropolis in Athens.
The orchestra of young musicians from the EEC countries is conducted by Daniel Barenboim and the soloist in Brahms' Violin Concerto, which opens the concert, is the young Israeli violinist Schlomo Mintz
In the second part of the concert there will be a performance of Schumann's Symphony No 4.
The concert, broadcast live from Greek television, is introduced by Michael Berkeley

The great Irrawaddy river is the backbone of Burma. Rising high in the Himalayas it flows south through 1,000 miles of jungle-clad mountains and arid desert Plains before entering the Bay of Bengal close to the capital, Rangoon. On its banks lie the ruins of Pagan, once the centre of a mighty empire, where powerful kings tried to outdo their predecessors by building ever more magnificent temples.
Today Burma is a socialist country, slowly emerging from a long Period of near-isolation from the rest of the world. Perhaps because of that isolation, it has preserved traditions and an old-world charm and sophistication which are uniquely its own.
