Massive earthquake rocks Southern Italy; Over 3,000 feared dead; Over 300,000 homeless
Last November's headlines now cold in the wake of current events. Today, six months later, the mountains around the little town of Brienza echo to the sounds of Scouse voices - the lads from Skelmersdale are here.
'Grazie, I thank you, all together now - Grazie '. That's become the catch-phrase of the group of young, unemployed building workers who've volunteered to help with demolition and reconstruction in the earthquake zone.
'... There's a companionship when you go to Brienza-it's like helping your next-door-neighbour and what the hell, we're only sat on our backsides in Skem doing nothing.' The words of Ray Buck , unemployed, just back from his third trip to Southern Italy.
