3: G. F. Watts at Compton, Surrey Two buildings tucked away down a Surrey lane commemorate the Victorian artist and sculptor G. F. Watts. In his days of fame, Watts had a room to himself at the Tate Gallery and the National Portrait Gallery and was referred to as ' England's Michelangelo'.
The Chapel and the Art Gallery at Compton which were designed and built by his wife Mary, unique in character and atmosphere, are places Sir Hugh has known and visited over many years.
