Glass Blowing
'It can be extremely frustrating. It's a hell of a material to work. You get terrific highs and terrific lows, you know, and sometimes you would like to give it up and walk away but it lures you back.' George Elliott is fascinated by the colours and shapes of primitive glass. As a studio glass-blower who works by himself, he is free to experiment with his own designs.

A seven-part historical series based on the life of the famous naturalist.
Malcolm Stoddard as Charles Darwin
6: Suppose that all animals and all plants are represented by the branches of a tree ... the tree of life.
On the Galapagos Islands, Darwin not only encountered creatures found nowhere else on earth, but also observed subtle differences between the inhabitants of one island and those of another.
But he nearly missed the significance of the little brown finches that could be seen everywhere. Some of these had beaks thin enough to pick up seeds from the hard ground; others had beaks thick enough to crack a nut. Here was the clue which led him directly to the theory of natural selection.

The second semi-final is between Rochdale Hornets and either Hull K R or Widnes.
Rochdale reached the semi-final by a very close victory against Huddersfield and have reached the final once in 1971. Either of their opponents, Hull K R or Widnes, will be difficult to beat, but Rochdale have the home ground advantage.
