Six explorations with Professor W. G. Hoskins 1: Ancient Dorset
The English landscape is a patchwork of small-scale changes which become apparent in any journey of more than a few miles. How these came about has been the lifelong concern of Professor William Hoskins. His years of careful observation of many different landscapes show how much man has influenced his surroundings.
How did the English landscape begin? And how much of man's earliest imprint on the landscape is still visible?
Professor Hoskins leads us to the lonely heaths, remote valleys and quiet villages and towns of Dorset to show how generations of men and women have shaped the ancient landscape.

A True and Fair View
There are more than 100,000 professionally qualified accountants in this country. Nearly half of these work as auditors, the men who check company accounts to see that they comply with the law. Recent insolvencies have highlighted their watchdog role. But do they go through the books carefully enough? How much information do they, and should they give to employees, to share-holders and to the Inland Revenue? Presented by BILL KERR-ELLIOTT With GRAHAM TURNER and JOHN SWINFIELD
