The great cricket venues of England are well known. The enormous crowds gather for the Tests at the famous grounds, but the grass-roots of cricket are in the small club grounds which rarely see the county sides.
Today, at the BAC Ground in Byfleet, we can enjoy the atmosphere of cricket played at county standard, in English country surroundings.
PETER WALKER introduces the programme which includes news of today's other matches. Glamorgan v Yorkshire Gloucestershire v Essex Kent v Sussex

An Island Called Danger Narrated by DUNCAN CARSE
In the centre of the Indian Ocean -juSt south of the Equator, and almost the furthest point from land - is the remote Chagos Archipelago. From soundings made in 1837, Charles Darwin came to the conclusion that the seven Chagos islands were all that remain of the Largest coral atoll the world has ever known - but that it was dead, eroding and disappearing beneath the waves.
Earlier this year, biologist DAVID BELLAMY and a Joint Services team of skilled divers spent two months exploring these uninhabited tropical islands, in an attempt to uncover the secrets of ' Darwin's Dead Atoll'.
This film is the story of that expedition and shows the wildlife that was discovered - on land and under the water.

rehearses students in scenes from Verdi's Falstaff
Another chance to see the first of six programmes in which the great British baritone Sir Geraint Evans passes on some of the tricks of the trade to a new generation of young singers. For the audience it is a unique opportunity to see the work that an operatic singer has to put into performances that look so natural and easy.

Ron ' Cat' Catlan, fading star quarterback- of the New Orleans Saints football team, is unwilling to face the facts of his failing skills and advancing years. Retirement to an executive desk is an unattractive alternative to the glory he has known on the grid-iron.
Though American football with its heavily-padded forwards batt-ling for an inch of territory may be something of a mystery, the scene ' when the Saints go marching in' is still one of the great spectacles in sport.
