Children of One Family
Stanley Wilson expected that if anything in Saffron Walden were named after him, it would be the public lavatory. A life-long rebel, he fought for political causes because he cared deeply about people.
When he was 50, Stanley married Kitty Edwards. His opponents hoped he would mellow -and they named an Old Folks' Home after him.
But the real Wilson monument is their own home for children in care, where they are bringing up the last of their unlimited family.

Happy Catastrophe
Are catastrophes avoidable? Are wars or even family rows inevitable? What do an inflation explosion and a moth's wing have in common?
With the help of Professor Christopher Zeeman , tonight's Horizon shows that surprisingly we have come much closer to being able to avoid catastrophes through a new discovery in mathematics -Catastrophe theory. This reveals that wars, family rows and even moths' wings all unfold in the same way. The theory describes the shape of all possible unfoldings and therefore of these and all other conflicts.
