A Journey to
Santiago de Compostela with Edwin Mullins
Next week in Santiago de Compostela, the annual festival of St James 's Day will take place with its customary spectacle and splendour.
There is a legend that the body of the apostle James, brother of John, was buried in North West Spain.
Around the tomb a city grew up in honour of the fisherman who was to become the patron saint of Spain, and throughout the Middle Ages' his shrine attracted more pilgrims than anywhere else in Europe.
EDWIN MULLINS follows some of the paths the pilgrims trod from England, through France and northern Spain, and ends in Santiago as it celebrates its annual festival.

Samurai - Sumo Survival
Fat is Fit. The Sumo Wrestlers of Japan, pride of the Emperor, beloved of the Geisha, eat their way into condition for their most punishing sport. The training schedule is a ritual designed to shape theiT huge physiques into human battering rams. A Sumo bout is short but savage and surrounded with colourful ceremony.
Fully aware that Sumo can shorten their lives by up to 15 years, the Sekitori, the name given to the top rank of wrestlers, willingly, almost amiably, accept the harsh punishment of their chosen sport.
The worship of Sumo - the national sport of the Japanese-their obsession with golf and baseball, the stylish grace and beauty of gymnastics makes Japan a fascinating subject for the first of Vincent Hanna 's investigations into sport.

The Great American Railroads
Today the much-sung Wabash, Rock Island, Rio Grande and Santa Fe still straddle the United States, but the last 3t) years have spelt a steady decline. Now the Energy Crisis promises a new boom, with railroads busier than ever in their history. But, paradoxically, it's a boom that could be the seed of their destruction, the death-blow to the last great private system in the world, as Brian Widiake reports.
