A Journey to
Santiago de Compostela with Edwin Mullins
Next week in Santiago de Compostela, the annual festival of St James 's Day will take place with its customary spectacle and splendour.
There is a legend that the body of the apostle James, brother of John, was buried in North West Spain.
Around the tomb a city grew up in honour of the fisherman who was to become the patron saint of Spain, and throughout the Middle Ages' his shrine attracted more pilgrims than anywhere else in Europe.
EDWIN MULLINS follows some of the paths the pilgrims trod from England, through France and northern Spain, and ends in Santiago as it celebrates its annual festival.
