Louise Fryer presents an evening of suites and serenades from City Hall, Newcastle-upon-Tyne. In 1949 Rorem settled in France and within a month was speaking the language fluently. Donald Macleod talks to him about his years in the country that had an overwhelming impact on him, both personally and artistically. The music includes two new recordings from the BBC Concert Orchestra that shed new light on this period of Rorem's life.
