Ralph Alessi
Ralph Alessi has made his name as a sideman for many of tod ay's most distinguished American contemporary jazz artists, playing and recording alongside Steve Coleman , Ravi Coltrane , Ron Carter and Greg Osby among many others. A formidable improviser, he has a growing reputation as a composer of inspiring and elegant frameworks.This concert, his debut UKgig as a leader, was recorded in the intimate setting of the Vortex Club. Alessi is joined by a group featuring clarinettist Don Byron (who sold out the Barbican last year fronting his own ensemble), and the ascendant bassist
Drew Gress. Andy Milne on piano and Mark Ferber on drums complete the line-up.
