3: Symphony with Satellites. Knussen's Third Symphony established him on the international scene when he was only 27. Today he joins Donald Macleod to discuss the symphony and its satellite works, linked either by subject matter or musical material. Some of these works also connect with the music of the past, from Perotin to Schumann, and form what
Knussen refers to as his "dialogues with other music".
