Procession to the Private Sector
In 1936 the poet David Gascoyne had a dream he felt of "collective as well as individual import". From this sprang his surrealist film scenario Procession to the Private Sector, first broadcast on Radio 3 in 1998 in an adaptation as a "film for radio" by Sean Street , with music by John Surman and featuring Simon Callow as the Camera. David Gascoyne died late last year at the age of 85. In commemoration of this important figure in 20th-century European literature Radio 3 is broadcasting this production again.
