Four hundred years ago, the Basilica of San Marco in Venice resounded to the lavish music of Andrea and Giovanni Gabrieli. Paul
McCreesh conducts the Gabrieli
Consort and Players in a sumptuous musical reconstruction of a spectacular service that took place there in 1595: the coronation of the Doge Marino Grimani. Tonight the pomp and pageantry of that occasion is brought to life again in London's equally magnificent St Paul's Cathedral.

We are what we buy and what we are seen to buy. Kevin Jackson continues his examination of the power of branding by looking at how it affects our individuality. The clothing industry knows what it takes to make us feel good, which turns many of us into walking advertisements for Calvin Klein ,
Ralph Lauren , Tommy Hilfiger and a score of others. But the world at large is resisting becoming a giant advertising hoarding. Kevin Jackson finds places where even brown fizzy drinks go flat.

It is 40 years this week since the death of singer Billie Holiday. In the first of two programmes Alyn Shipton is joined by Holiday biographer John Chilton to look back at her career and her extraordinary rise to fame. In rare archive recordings she is also remembered by her colleagues Teddy Wilson , Al Casey and Doc Cheatham , who recall her professionalism in the studio and her stand against racism.
