A sacred and profane mixture, recorded at the Royal Festival Hall earlier this year. The Schnittke piece was inspired by St Florian, an Augustinian monastery near Linz in Austria. The inspiration for Bruckner's Te Deum comes from the same monastery, where the composer is buried. In contrast, the Scriabin piece is a hymn to the joy of creation, embued with a pagan and voluptuous spirit.
