Torvaldo e Dorliska
One of Rossini's lesser-known operas, composed in 1815 - between 11 Turco in Italia and The Barber of Seville.
Described as a dramma semiserio, it falls into the category of rescue opera, which had been popular since the French Revolution. The evil Duke of Ordow is holding Dorliska captive in his castle, determined that she will yield to him. Torvaldo - her real love - arrives to rescue her but is also captured. Only luck or clemency can save them....
Sung in Italian.

Martin Kemp talks to artists about the way they treat the question of what it is to be alive today. 4: Contemporary Schizophrenia Tony Oursler, a New York artist, uses video projection to reinvigorate figurative art and offer a human experience. His figures appear to be real people with real voices, emotions and anxieties, and yet we know that they are dummies.
