Obrecht and de la Rue
Today, a sequence of secular music by both composers, including songs and instrumental works. At a time when French songs were dominating vocal chamber music everywhere in Western Europe, Jacob Obrecht was unusual in setting songs, such as Mijn morken gaf mij, in Dutch, as well as in French and Italian. The programme also includes several of Pierre de la Rue's contributions to the chansonniers of the unfortunate Margaret of Austria, including a marvellously sombre setting of Pourquoy non. gramophone records
