An intriguing sound picture of village life in developing Sri Lanka. more than 30 years after independence. Knud Ebbesen spent five months in Sri Lanka gathering material for a series of Danish radio programmes. For some of thattimehelivedinthe village of Wellaboda on the coast, about 60 miles south of the capital, Colombo. The programme is built round the sound of the concho shell and the sea, life in the hut and in the tropical night, songs, religious processions and ceremonies of exorcism, the joys and frustrations of everyday life.
