Transdniester. It has its own president, currency, and national anthem. Transdniester is a tiny Russian-speaking enclave, wedged between Moldova and Ukraine, not recognised by any nation on earth. Yet it has a sinister reputation as a haven for organised crime and arms trafficking. Believe it or not, the Scottish football team may be going there to play this autumn.
