Themes from the 70s. A series of ten programmes 10: Change in the Laager Southern Africa remains one of the flash points of the 80s, the area of the World where mutual incomprehension between black and white could lead to race war. At the heart of the situation is Pretoria which during the 70s has seen South Africa gradually stripped of its encircling buffer states - the Portuguese colonies, Rhodesia and Namibia.
In the 80s the peace of the region could depend on the capacity of the Afrikaner community in South Africa for change.
Stanley Uys has been looking at the shift in attitudes through the 70s south of the Limpopo.
