Steve Punt and Hugh Dennis, who contributed sketches to "Canned Carrott" before finding fame with David Baddiel and Rob Newman in "The Mary Whitehouse Experience", bring their double act to television for a new six-part series.
"We're transferring the identity we've established on the stage comedy circuit to TV", says Punt. "The show is a mixture of stand-up, sketches, bits on film, a sitcom set in a fast-food restaurant and a serial about the world's worst assassin."
"You know the scene," adds Dennis. "He's chopping wood when a car screeches up. He's a very hard man, living in retirement since that business in Budapest. But he's lured back for one last job."
Apart from the filmed routines everything will be recorded as close as possible to transmission, "with as few re-takes as we can get away with," to keep a freshly-minted flavour to the comedy.
