'Now I've never been more serious in my life when I stand and keep on saying - you're looking in the face of a black man who refuses to stoop low enough to hate anybody.'
The words of The Rev Martin Luther King Sr, father of the famous civil rights leader, and still a leader of his people at the age of 80. The son's fame has obscured the father's achievements, but for Blacks of his city - Atlanta, Georgia - Daddy King is a household name.
He fought his way up from extreme poverty to become a famous preacher, a courageous fighter against racial injustice and a civic leader, long before his son became prominent.
In the past 13 years his wife and two sons have met violent deaths, but he has carried on; to become one of the leading figures in bringing about the so-called New South.
"Portrait of a steadfast and courageous man." (Daily Telegraph)
"This film shows that it was not just one man but a whole family that set about to right the wrongs of American Blacks." (Sunday Times)
