opens a short season of films starring Steve McQueen with Ali MacGraw , Ben Johnson
Paroled with the help of a corrupt businessman, ' Doc ' McCoy finds that the price of his freedom is to mastermind a bank robbery. But the robbery goes wrong and ' Doc ' finds himself on the run with the money and his wife Carol. Bound together in a love-hate relationship of expediency and occasional tenderness, the two star-crossed fugitives embark on a violent odyssey through the flat lands of Texas, pursued by forces of the law and an underworld gangster.
In this characteristically tough film by director Sam Peckinpah , Steve McQueen stars as the ex-prisoner obsessed with money and fatally marked by his experiences ' in there '.
