The epic love story set in revolutionary Russia starring Omar Sharif as Yuri Zhivago, Julie Christie as Lara, Geraldine Chaplin as Tonya, Rod Steiger as Komarovsky, Alec Guinness as Yergraf, Tom Courtenay as Pasha/Strelnikov, Ralph Richardson as Alexander

Doctor and poet Yuri Zhivago is brought up in the family of Alexander Gromeko, whose daughter Tonya he marries after graduating. But his true love is for the passionate and beautiful Lara, the mistress of a political opportunist. With the outbreak of the Great War, and with Moscow transformed by the Revolution, their romance is disrupted by the social upheaval surrounding them. David Lean's stirring film is based on the classic novel by Boris Pasternak, published for the first time in the Soviet Union last year.

Whistling Hunters Narrated by David Attenborough
The scene is a dense forest in Southern India. A family of wild boar are grazing quietly by the river bank. Suddenly a pair of fox-like ears pops up from the grass: a pack of dholes - Indian wild dogs - are closing in for the kill.
The Indian dog is so rarely seen that early authors thought it might be a mythical animal. This film demonstrates for the first time that dholes are definitely fact, not fiction - expert trackers and hunters in pursuit of prey, gentle and affectionate when guarding and playing with the pups. Above all, they are pack animals and, as they move through the forest, they keep in touch with each other with a strange high-pitched call. Photographed and directed by NARESH BEDI

Presented by Hugh Scully , reporter Helen Madden.
A second chance to see the special edition marking the 80th anniversary of the old age pension.
It took a long and bitter campaign to win the first five-shilling pension in 1909. Eighty years on, Helen Madden finds that some pensioners - including Jack Jones and Barbara Castle - are still campaigning.
What of the future? Will the growth of private schemes eventually make the state pension unnecessary? Is the newly-formed Association for Retired Persons the right organisation to take pensioners into the 1990s? Producer TIM LAMBERT Series editor CHRIS LENT (e)
