Whistling Hunters Narrated by David Attenborough
The scene is a dense forest in Southern India. A family of wild boar are grazing quietly by the river bank. Suddenly a pair of fox-like ears pops up from the grass: a pack of dholes - Indian wild dogs - are closing in for the kill.
The Indian dog is so rarely seen that early authors thought it might be a mythical animal. This film demonstrates for the first time that dholes are definitely fact, not fiction - expert trackers and hunters in pursuit of prey, gentle and affectionate when guarding and playing with the pups. Above all, they are pack animals and, as they move through the forest, they keep in touch with each other with a strange high-pitched call. Photographed and directed by NARESH BEDI
