Every morning, whatever the weather, an army of boys and girls sets out to deliver the daily news. For the 350,000 of them it means a daily round of dissatisfied customers, excitable dogs, heavier newspapers, and the hazards of being out alone in isolated villages or deserted city streets. What's more, according to Andrew Neil, editor of The Sunday Times, they may eventually be out of a job too, if the work is given to delivery trucks or even milk floats.
