John Ford's Western starring
Richard Widmark , Carroll Baker and special guest stars James Stewart
Edward G. Robinson Arthur Kennedy
Based on a true story of frontier history in the late 1870s, this epic Western was one of veteran director John Ford 's last great films. A group of Cheyennes decide to leave the Oklahoma reservation where they are being starved out of existence. They plan a 1,500-mile trek to their old homelands in Wyoming. But the cavalry is forced by unsympathetic authority to halt the migration, and a revival of old hatreds - and war - seems to be inevitable.
