A report by Ian Wooldridge
No act in the history of modern sport has provoked greater controversy than the hijacking of cricket by the Australian business tycoon Kerry Packer. Life-long friendships were broken. An England captain was branded a traitor, star players were accused of treachery. An outraged Establishment sought redress in the law courts and lost.
So whatever happened to the Englishman's heritage? In this personal enquiry Kerry Packer , for the first time, puts his case in detail. Also appearing: ALEC BEDSER , DENNIS LILLEE , FRED TRUEMAN , DENIS COMPTON , HAROLD LARWOOD , MIKE BREARLEY , GREG and IAN CHAPPELL , TONY GREIG , a Cast of thousands on the Sydney Hill, and, from time to time, the Australian cultural attache SIR LES PATTERSON.
