The Persuaders looks at the future world of advertising and marketing
Tonight: The United States of Advertising
Woody Allen is critical. Mayor Koch of New York is optimistic. The bosses of the biggest agencies in America and Britain are confident. All of them have different visions of the way advertising will shape our future.
Will political advertising become commonplace? Do lasers and holography mean three-dimensional ads? Will a handful of agencies ever dominate the world's advertising?
In the last programme of the present series Charlotte Allen and David Tindall ask where The Persuaders will go from here. In Madison Avenue and in London they talk to the practitioners, the critics and the prophets - including the leading American science-fiction author, Dr Isaac Asimov.
