Marevna and Marika Omnibus wishes a happy 88th birthday to an extraordinary lady with the second showing of this highly praised documentary about a bizarre household.
Marevna and Marika live in what looks like an ordinary, rambling house in Ealing with their eight dogs and two cats, but inside they inhabit a magical world of fantasy and memories of Paris in the 1920s.
Marevna, 88 last month, is painter of Russian birth; she was a friend of Picasso and the mistress of Mexican artist Diego
Rivera. Her daughter, Manka, is a dancer and actress, now famous for her extraordinary one-woman cabaret shows.
The film is a documentary portrait of their life now and an evocation of the dream world which they still inhabit.
Film cameraman JOHN HOOPER
Producer JANA BOKOVA.
