Introduced by David Dimbleby Solzhenitsyn in Exile
Alexander Solzhenitsyn , perhaps the greatest living Russian writer, was exiled by the Soviet Government two years ago. He now lives in Switzerland.
Solzhenitsyn has been a teacher, a decorated artillery officer during the war, and a political prisoner in Stalin's camps. He has survived to pour out a massive and bitter indictment of life in the USSR, from the Revolution to the present day, in works like The Gulag Archipelago.
Now Solzhenitsyn has made his first visit to Britain, and in an interview with MICHAEL CHARLTON he talks about his life in the West, what he stands for in the struggle for ideas and human rights in Russia, and how he thinks the Russian revolution went wrong.
