Big Boat Cruising
Of the millions of people in Britain who go sailing or motor-boating each year, many choose the relaxation of cruising. Once afloat, there are no cars, next-door neighbours or telephones to worry about. To avoid the problems of buying and keeping a boat, some people join a sailing club. For a week in early May, Martin Muncaster followed the crew of the Island Cruising Club's schooner Hoshi to France and the Channel Islands. The club members came from all walks of life, and varied from hardened sea-dogs to complete beginners.

In a new series of special profiles David Dimbleby talks to eight well-known men and women. 7: Sir Peter Hall
SIR PETER HALL , much-acclaimed, much-criticised director of the National Theatre, dislikes being interviewed. 'My real self would rather play the piano,' he claims. On the other hand, the entertainer has ' got to cry his wares if he wants to be heard.'
So Sir Peter talks about his East Anglian childhood and his struggle to succeed, about his work with the Royal Shakespeare Company. about opera and about the administrative burden he carries. With an annual subsidy of £3J-million threatened with cuts, one crippling strike behind him and the constant danger of another to come, he has plenty to worry about.
