An animal-loving small boy becomes involved with a community of friendly bees. It all starts one day when he discovers two boys poking sticks into a beehive. Angrily, Joe drives them away, and his brave action earns him the gratitude of the hive-dwellers.
As a special gesture to show their thanks, a magic bee called Buzz scales Joe down from boy to bee size, so that he is tiny enough to go into their home. Then he is allowed to stay there all day-by royal consent of the queen.
Joe sets off on his great adventure.
