Orrell v Harlequins Nigel Starmer-Smith introduces highlights of yesterday's north-south clash. News of the rest of the weekend's rugby, and a look forward to next week's internationals.

The Deciding Factor
Why did the chicken cross the road? Whatever the answer, it involved a decision, perhaps crucial to its survival. Making the right decisions is as vital to animals as it is to us. How is it done?
Presented with a choice of actions most of us, surprisingly, make the right one where our lives are concerned; and that goes for animals too. Life's decision-making mechanisms have been honed by millions of years of evolution in octopus and crab, cuckoo and reed-warbler, homeless honey-bees, amorous dung-flies, motorway rooks or blackberrying ramblers. Screenplay by MAGGIE WADEY from the novel by JANE AUSTEN starring
Peter Firth
Googie Withers
Robert Hardy and Katharine Schlesinger
Like teenage girls of all times Catherine Morland adores reading stories of love and adventure: maidens abducted to sinister castles, bodies concealed behind damask curtains, heroes riding to the rescue on white horses. All very different from the materialistic pleasure-seeking world of 18th-century Bath. But when aristocratic Henry Tilney invites her to Northanger Abbey it seems her fantasies may come true.
