with Isobelita Alonso
Isobelita Alonzo was born in Bilbao, where she lived until after the Great War, when she came to England to complete her education. Many of the songs which she sings she learnt as a child from her mother, though she has since studied music both in this country and in France, Italy, and Germany. In Spain she spent some considerable time in the Gypsy country round Granada studying Flamenco singing.
She has been in England for the past two years, during which she has broadcast a good many times. She has been heard in such Variety productions as The Sunny Side, Money for Jam, and Southern Maid. She has also broadcast from this country to South America.

Last week listeners heard how the Wart brought Merlyn home to be his tutor. In this week's story Merlyn will start the education of his pupil.
On a hot day the Wart envies the fish in the castle moat, so Merlyn lets him find out for himself what it is like to be a fish. He meets the harmless Roaches and the terrifying Pike, and emerges very much wiser than he went in. Whilst his friend Kay is having a tilting lesson, the Wart wants to see a real joust, and Merlyn again obliges. Listeners will hear his commentary on the encounter between King Pellinore and Sir Grummore.

An appeal on behalf of THE CHURCH OF ENGLAND ZENANA
MISSIONARY SOCIETY by MARY E. PELL
The Church of England Zenana Missionary Society had the honour of sending the first European woman doctor to India, of opening the first women's hospital, and of training the first Indian midwives.
The C.E.Z.M.S. also led the way in opening the first school for the deaf in India.
The Society, which has work in India and Ceylon, China and Singapore, has nineteen hospitals, with over 15,000 in-patients, together with thirty-six dispensaries with over 315,000 out-patient attendances. It has four schools for the deaf and blind, and in its nine orphanages, some 2,000 ' unwanted ' babies are cared for.
Visits are paid to women in gaol, and rescue and preventive work is carried on, as also work among lepers.
Contributions will be gratefully acknowledged, and should be addressed to [address removed]
