There are still thousands of Londoners who recall Arthur Stanton of St. Alban's, Holborn, who was bom a hundred years ago, and who, of his own choice, remained a curate for half a century. The parish in his early days contained slums as bad as any in London ; and to its people Stanton gave his life, his love, and his money. There was perhaps never a greater mission preacher, and his biting sermons packed St. Alban's with congregations from every walk of life.
