A feature from Scotland describing the work done at the Rowett Institute, Aberdeen, where research is made into animal nutrition
An important concern of the farmer is the feeding of his animals, and in modern times special research institutes such as the Rowett Institute near Aberdeen have been set up to discover the best diets for farm animals.
This programme will discuss some of the achievements of these special institutes of agricultural research, and describe how, through experiments on the diet of animals, important discoveries in connection with human diet have also been made.

When a woman, principal character in this unusual play, finds herself alone in a deserted house ' just off Piccadilly ' for the purpose of laying the ghost of a somewhat wearisome old lady, she little guessed what would befall her.
The setting of the play is eerie— a dark room, the solitary watcher, and a dusty, uncurtained window through which filters the light from a street lamp some yards down the road.
When the watcher is joined in her vigil by a mysterious philosophising stranger she shows resolute calm. As for the ghost of the old lady, well, like all good ghosts it must be left to the climax.

Colin Macleod Campbell, who is well known as a composer of light and tuneful orchestral suites, some of which are broadcast from time to time, has composed numerous songs. The programme to be heard this afternoon consists of several of Campbell's best songs, such as ' There is a lady sweet and kind' and ' I did but look and love awhile ', which show his keen poetic feeling and simple harmonic and fluent melodic styles. His light romantic opera Maid Marian , the libretto of which is founded on the adventures of Robin Hood , has not yet been heard on the stage, but a special concert version was given at one of Mrs. Ralli's Sunday Concerts at the Hyde Park Hotel last October.
Campbell has written another opera, Thais and Talmaae, an early work in one act which was broadcast in January, 1937, and was first produced by the Royal Carl Rosa Opera Company in Manchester in 1921.
