M.C.C. v. West Indies
A commentary during the first day's play, by Howard Marshall , from
Lord's
Today the West Indies Cricket Team will have its first real test of strength when it meets a strong M.C.C. team. The game will give cricket fans an opportunity of seeing what their chances in the forthcoming Tests are likely to be.
The West Indies gained for themselves immediate popularity on their last visit. Their two demon bowlers, Constantine and Martindale, are here again to awe the English batsmen. Headley is also in the team. He is one of the greatest run-getters in cricket. In the last series of Tests played in the West Indies England were defeated, and it will be interesting to see whether, the process will be reversed under English conditions. The first Test Match begins at Lord's on June 24.
The Davis Cup
Great Britain v. New Zealand
A commentary during the final day's play, by F. H. Grisewood , from the Sussex County Lawn Tennis Club,
Brighton Great Britain drew a bye in the first round of the Davis Cup this year, and has consequently passed through to the second round. The Davis Cup matches are played over three days, two singles on the first day, doubles on the second, and reverse singles on the third. F. H. Grisewood will, therefore, be describing the reverse singles in this broadcast and in his second commentary at 4.30.

A Pursuit Race between
Toni Merkens (Germany) and Harry Hill (England)
A commentary by Stewart MacPherson from Heme Hill Cycling Track
The star event at Herne Hill this afternoon is the Omnium Match between Toni Merkens , who has proved so popular when riding over here in recent years (he is to ride for the first time as a professional at Herne Hill), and Harry Hill , who turned professional last year. They are to ride three races against each other, and the broadcast chosen is the match over 5 kilos (approx. 3 miles) between them.
There will be a second commentary on the Invitation Sprint Match, which is to be contested by five of our leading English short-distance riders over 5 laps (3 1/2 laps to the mile).
The meeting is the first of five to be staged this year by the newly formed London Cycle Racing Combine.
Italy v. England
A commentary on the second half of the match by Ivan Sharpe from the Milan Sports Stadium, Italy
This is more than a return match between Italy and England (England won when the Italians came over and played them at Highbury two years ago)-it is a match to decide the world's championship, which was won in Paris last summer by Italy, with England not competing in the championship competition.
The Milan Sports Stadium has been specially enlarged to hold 75,000 people. The F.A. are particularly glad to be sending over a team (practically the same as the team that played against Scotland at the beginning of April), because on the occasion of the F.A.'s seventy-fifth anniversary in October last year Italy sent no fewer than six players to take part in the Rest-of-Europe team against England.
