Mr. PHILIP THORNTON
IN THE PRESENT TALK Mr. Thornton Will deal with the marked contrast between the European's idea of Eastern music and what it really is, rather than with cases of parallels in the music of different countries and different ages, which was the subject of his earlier talks in this series. Most people recognise snatches of The Mikado when they hear them, but few have had a chance of hearing the actual music in Japanese drama. That, roughly is the underlying idea of this talk in the Musical Switchback.

A BIG WELCOME will await the Houston Sisters, who last broadcast in October, 1933; and a top-liner of the music-halls is Ernie Mayne , who appears for the first time in Music-Halls' of the air, after his big success in 'What Next?' The Moussorgsky Quartet, who are very rarely in this country, will give their Russian folk-songs; and the lively programme, which includes Leslie Weston and Queenie May, will be compered by Sutherland Felce , who thus breaks new ground.
