Why have the Scots flirted with devolution but never made a firm commitment? Next Thursday, Scotland has a chance to decide the future of its constitution and its relationship with England.
Nearly 300 years ago, Scotland and England were joined in what can be compared to an arranged marriage. While the union with England has remained largely solid, there have been times when some Scottish elements have wanted to control their own destiny. Using archive footage and interviews, Kirsty Wark charts the history of the home rule movement and asks if Scotland remains a restless nation.
